Pink Beach Komodo island or Pantai Merah, is one of seven pink Beaches on the planet. It is just one of the many amazing features of Komodo Island. And that makes it truly a New Seven Wonders of Nature. Pink Beach is included in the Komodo National Park area in East Nusa Tenggara. This exceptional beach gets its striking color from microscopic animals called Foraminifera. which produces a red pigment on the coral reefs. For this reason, we call it Pink beach komodo island or Red Beach in the local tongue.
When the tiny fragments of red coral combine with the white sands, this produces the soft pink color that is visible along the shoreline. However, some people think this pink color comes from broken coral. Aside from Pink Beach itself, a few small segments along Komodo’s eastern bay also have a pinkish tint.
While, Komodo Island is one of three larger that make up the Komodo National Park. It is particularly well-known as the natural habitat of the Komodo Dragons. Komodo island is the biggest island in the Komodo National Park. And has the biggest population of Komodo dragons. From Labuan Bajo, the closest tourist town, to Komodo island takes approximately 3 hours on a local wooden Boat and 2 hours on a speed boat. It’s a long and enjoyable trip, we pass by stunning islets, calm bays and cruis through a beautiful deep blue sea.
